December is a time to look forward to celebrations, colors, songs, decorations, and spending time with family and friends. It also is a time to look back and review the past year. Early in 2021 we were saddened with the passing of two Board members, Ken and Jim. Later, another Board member, Jerry, moved back to Ohio. The Board then welcomed three new members, Roxy, Fred, and Barbra. We began to "open up" with outside events and eventually inside activities such as Bingo, club and committee meetings, and the movie theater. We became a certified FIREWISE community. The Rules and Regulations update is almost completed and will be sent to our residents for review. And, oh yes, the speed humps on World Cup. The celebration of Hanukkah has begun and will continue until December 6. Christmas will include the golf cart parade, the angel tree, and the generous giving by our residents. Grandchildren will be looking forward to Santa and his arrival. NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) has been tracking Santa's journey around the world since 1958. This innovation was set into motion when a young child accidentally dialed the unlisted phone number of the Continental Air Defense Command in Colorado Springs, Colorado, believing she was calling Santa Claus. The commander on duty saw an opportunity to create a little Christmas magic and assured the youngster that Santa would be guaranteed a safe journey. Message from the Board of Directors 2 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | DECEMBER 2021 | Sincerely, and on behalf of your Board of Directors, Greg Rockvam, Cliff Post, Tony Criscenti, Roxy Snider, Fred Kydd, and Barbra Balser Jim Crase President Holidays bring gifts, the definition being: "Something given willingly to someone else." We in Four Seasons have been blessed with many gifts. Our community and everything we have are gifts: bistro, movie theater, tennis, pickleball, bocce, shuffleboard, pool, library, barbecue area, etc. All of our committees and what they contribute are gifts for all of us: • Access Control - Keeping us safe • Architectural - Maintaining quality and high standards • Bistro - Food, parties, and more food • Emergency Preparedness - Individual and community readiness in the even of disasters • Facilities - Maintaining our community in first-rate condition • Finance - Keeping us financially strong and maybe our most unheralded committee • Landscape - Maintaining the beauty we see around us • Library - Good reading and all those puzzles; what a gift when we were shutdown • Social - Providing entertainment for all, especially this year when their theme seems to be bigger and better • Sunshine Team - There for us when we need help the most Thanks to all the volunteers for their gifts to us. Enjoy everything Four Seasons has to offer in December. A special note to our new neighbors and friends - a suggestion for a New Year's resolution: Consider joining a committee and/or club to help keep our community safe beautiful, prosperous, and fun! Remember: "Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us…" Hal Borland We wish you all a happy and safe holiday, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, and Happy New Year.
