6 SOLERA DIAMOND VALLEY | JANUARY 2022 By Theresa Rossetti, Resident There are many words in the English language that end in "ful." Some, such as unfaithful or resentful, don't convey the best of feelings, many others do. This year, instead of resolutions, let's try to work on some of those good ones. For 2022, let's try to be thankful. Sometimes this can be difficult. Health problems, family issues, etc. can interfere with finding things to be thankful for. For instance, no one would be thankful for a case of shingles, we'd need to try to be grateful in spite of it. However, to a certain extent we can control our feelings, choosing to focus on the good instead of the negative. We can decide to focus on family and friendships we hold dear, having (or had) a job you enjoy, time now to devote to a hobby that brings you pleasure, being able to enjoy the outdoor spaces we have here at SDV and the great amenities we have at our Lodge. If you need an idea or two for something else to be thankful for in January, here are a few "holidays" that might give you a reason to celebrate (or a chuckle): January 3rd is Fruitcake Toss Day January 15th is National Bagel Day January 16th is Appreciate a Dragon Day January 18th is Winnie the Pooh Day January 20th is National Penguin Day January 21st is Squirrel Appreciation Day (granted, that one could be hard around here) January 24th is Beer Can Appreciation Day January 31st is National Backward Day and National Hot Chocolate Day! Now, while you're thinking of trying to throw a beer can at a squirrel while you eat a bagel and drink some hot chocolate, can you come up with some other things you are thankful for?
