FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | JANUARY 2022 5 By Kathy Craven, Board Vice President Happy 2022! I hope this writing finds you all happy and healthy, and may all your wishes and resolutions come true this year. The Board of Directors has been asked what we are doing to help Sun Lakes prevent the proposed warehouse from being built. We do, and will continue to, show support with the entire Board of Directors attending the initial meeting at Sun Lakes last October, along with many of our residents. I was invited to attend a meeting with Randy Robbins, who is heading the cause at Sun Lakes, as well as two other members of the Pass Action Group. We met with the developer and the owner of the property and were shown the proposed drawings. We asked many questions and voiced our concerns. More importantly, our Board member, Gracy Luna, is a key member on the Pass Action Group and is providing updates and information on all pertinent Banning City Council meetings and hearings. She was responsible for helping write the bylaws to become a charter organization and is working to ensure donations continue for legal fees. She was one of three designated speakers for the Pass Action Group at the planning commission meeting held Dec. 1. The warehouse is to be constructed across from Sun Lakes' main gate on Sun Lakes Boulevard. Since Highland Springs is the city line between Beaumont and Banning, this will significantly impact Four Seasons. Traffic is the most impacting issue on Highland Springs and Sun Lakes Boulevard. As anyone who travels outside our gates knows, there is almost always traffic congestion traversing both north and south between Sun Lakes Boulevard and Interstate 10. Traffic is only one of the concerns of the Pass Action Group; other concerns include the health impact due to diesel truck emissions, environmental impact of noise and lighting from the warehouse, environmental impact of noise on local streets, and, most importantly, the inability of the police department to enforce traffic and parking violations. An attorney has been retained for all legal matters and is working on filing an injunction to halt the project until more studies can be done. If you are wondering what you can do to help, there are ways to get involved. You can make a donation to the legal fund by mailing a check to Randy Robbins made payable to: Pass Action Group 5972 Indian Canyon Drive, Banning CA 92220, or you can contact Randy at randyllump@yahoo. com or call (909) 499-3570 and someone can pick it up. Please be advised the donation is NOT tax deductible. In addition to legal fees, your donation goes toward printing, website maintenance, and advertising. To stay informed with up-to-the minute status, you can also join the Facebook page by requesting admittance at Pass Area Action Group. You can also attend the City Council meetings and voice your opinion, as well as write letters. Let's all work together to see what we can accomplish. The Board of Directors meets the second Thursday of the month at 1 pm in the Ballroom. If you have questions and would like to discuss them with the Board of Directors, you can attend the Meet the Board, a much more informal meeting which meets the third Wednesday of the month in the RCN at 1 pm. Remember, be kind to one another. For more info, contact me at kcravenbod@yahoo.com or (714) 722-1301. Message From The Board
