Put on your dancing shoes, meet you on the dance floor! ~ Priscilla Robles Karaoke Welcome to the first article about monthly karaoke at Four Seasons! There are a lot of reasons to come out to karaoke but for the first article I will start with my own personal story as to "Why Karaoke" and why it is more than just singing. Only a few short years ago, our good friend Neil Edelbaum introduced us to karaoke. He would bring his little hand held karaoke microphone over and have us try singing a few songs with him. I was very shy and up until this point I would barely even sing Happy Birthday at a party. We decided to go to Karaoke at The Lodge out of curiosity, just to see what it was like. At that time John Noonan, Jerry Mathews, and Dave Chorba were the hosts and they did a great job. After some coaxing and some practice, I decided to take the plunge and — scared to death — sang Good Time by Alan Jackson. I just prayed that people would get up and dance so they would not be watching me. I am an average singer at best but after that day it changed something inside of me. I realized that it's less about the singing and more about challenging myself to push through something I feared. I thought to myself, "Who the heck cares" if I'm not perfect or don't sound like George Straight? I realized that karaoke is more about having fun and being with your friends and neighbors in a relaxed atmosphere. Over the past few years, Janine and I have had so much fun, have met a ton of new friends, and now I find myself co-hosting karaoke every month with my buddy John Noonan. Had I not tried singing originally, I wouldn't have the confidence to be involved in this fun activity now. I invite you to come out, order some dinner, and just be part of the fun. Even if you aren't ready to cross that line yet, you can support your neighbors who are there to entertain you! Karaoke is now held every third Saturday in The Lodge Ballroom starting at 5:30 pm and remember, who the heck cares? Come out and have some fun. ~ David Rohrbacker Classical Music Club We are classical music lovers with an interest in sharing our love, knowledge, and interest in classical music. We meet on the second Thursday of each month at 7 pm in The Lodge Theater. We listen to and watch musical selections on the big screen. Each month we focus on a particular work or several selections of one composer. We also discuss current musical performances in the area. We welcome new members.
