He will also work with you in small groups during the week. We plan on having a potluck social following the lesson. If you would like to bring a snack or dessert to share, we will have a table set up. Please bring whatever you would like to drink. Water is provided. Join us for some fun and a bit of socializing to get to know each other. Tennis Lessons Colony racquet sport players couldn't be happier with the summer-like weather of November and December. SoCal was the place to be for Paddle Tennis and Tennis players alike. This weather held for the monthly Paddle Tennis Tournament, Nov. 12, hosted by Sharon Smith and Mary Crockett. A very lively, well-played morning for 24 players. The Women's division was won by Maggie Vazquez and Darla Gonzales. The player with the highest score in the Men's division was Rob Chandler. The next evening, we enjoyed a traditional Thanksgiving dinner hosted by Bea Brown and Karen Nichols. The highlight of the evening was fantastic entertainment by Rick Lake, Randy McKee, Rich Brown and Gary Wilson. The four racquet sport players "rocked out" live with guitars and singing. They are multi-talented guys! Three weeks later, on Dec. 4, Gwen Ryan and Ellen Michelli hosted a well-attended Christmas dinner. Ellen and Gwen, once again, dove into the racquet sport talent pool and asked Kevin (Dr. P) Petka to serenade us with Christmas Carols on The Colony's grand piano. Kevin has the best backhand and piano skills in The Colony. During the evening the 2022 Racquet Club Board of Directors was introduced. Pat Kight, President; Wendell Jackson, Vice President; Tom McClure, Secretary, Chuck Gordon; Treasurer; and Linda Kight, member-at-large will serve this coming year. The Ladies Racquet Luncheon was on Dec. 8. It was hosted by Phyllis Way, Shirley Duffy, Karen Alonzo and Ann McIntyre. The tables were decorated beautifully, and fun was had by all who attended. Twelve hardy players braved the fog and cold to participate in the Dec.10 Paddle Tennis tournament. There was some good tennis and great points made on all the courts. Darla Gonzales won the Women's division and Tom McClure won the Men's division. Wendell Jackson provided a great breakfast spread to keep the players warm and fed. The tennis courts are getting busier and busier. With the instruction of John Knitter, our tennis coach, and the organization of Sharon Boll, Jeanne Bender and Chuck Gordon, the courts are filled most mornings. This month's women's potluck luncheon will be on Wednesday, Jan. 12, in the Lounge. The sign- up list will be posted in the display cases outside the courts. Our sincere thanks to the outgoing Racquet Club Board of Directors, Kathy Lewis, Shawn Furrer, Chuck Gordon, Karen Nichols and Linda Kight for a job well done. Racquet sports are on a solid footing for 2022. Racquet Club By Tom McClure, 303-7838 Tom McClure and Darla Gonzalez Darla Gonzales Maggie Vazquez Rob Chandler
