14 | THE COLONY NEWS | JANUARY 2022 | COMMITTEE NEWS
By Gloria Brosky & Jodi Harris
Article 13 – Architectural Changes Standards states, "In
accordance with the current Covenants, Conditions and
Restrictions (CC&Rs) for The Colony at California Oaks
Homeowner Association, it is required that prior approval be
obtained for all construction involving improvements and
modifications to homes, patio covers and yards, as listed in
the CC&Rs Article 11. Knowledge of and adherence to the
CC&Rs and of these Architectural Standards is the personal
responsibility of each homeowner."
After your application is approved by the committee, you
will obtain a brightly colored notice stating what your home
project will entail. This notice needs to be placed at the front
of your house, for example posted in a garage window. This
lets management know you have received project approval.
Projects completed without approval are subject to a violation
and a fine.
Something new in the New Year! The Architectural
Committee members will be wearing brightly colored vests and
name badges as we conduct business in the community. We
sometimes receive looks from homeowners who wonder who
these strangers are looking at their homes. We hope this will
help ease your minds.
We recently completed home inspections on Via Astuto,
and we will be doing home inspections on Via Calidad, Via
Barletta, Via Tonada and surrounding streets in January. After
completing the northwest area of The Colony, we will move
across Avenida Florita to streets such as Corte Peralta, Corte
Calanova and Via Marissa.
We hope the New Year will bring good health to all of us!
