geology, flora and fauna of
the area. The main draw is
the 13-mile drive through
the canyons and the 26
numbered hikes. I took two
of them (as I mentioned
in earlier articles, speed in
hiking is not something
that is natural to my body).
The first one started about
7 am and the sky was blue
and beautiful. By the time
I got about two miles into
the hike, it clouded up and
started to rain. I found a
shortcut to the road and
flagged a car down to
give me a ride back to the
parking lot. How wonderful
is life!
It is hard to find the words
to explain this canyon.
Please look at my photos
for a better way to see what
this extraordinary drive has
in store for you, the visitor.
You can probably tell from
my photos that I took the
drive twice, once in the late
afternoon and then in the
early morning. Both days I
was blessed with the most
incredible clouds and the
bluest sky.
