KARA'S KORNER | THE COLONY NEWS | JANUARY 2022 | 27 The Notables Of Temecula Valley A Salute to Rodgers & Hammerstein The Classics of Rock & Soul For the Love of Music: The Valley Winds Band Sunday, Jan. 23, 1 pm. The Temecula Valley Historical Society brings their special presentation of The Notables to The Colony stage! This hour-and-a-half performance will feature two women portrayed by members of the Temecula Historical Society. Julie Gilbart portrays Jean Bethell, who was Secretary to Erle Stanley Gardner, the famous author of the Perry Mason mystery novels. Shelley Leddy portrays Catherine "Trixie" Fernald. Trixie was a wife and mother who, with her husband, owned a quarry, a general store and a photography studio in Temecula. She was a woman ahead of her time. Doors open at 12:30 pm. Show time is 1 pm. There will be tables for eight, and seating is Cabaret style. Tickets are $7 per person, payable to The Colony HOA. Saturday, Jan. 29, 6:30 pm and Sunday, Jan. 30, 2 pm. Rescheduled. Canyon Lake Community Theatre is back to present a new theatrical endeavor as they salute Rodgers and Hammerstein. This show will be a trip down memory lane as we relive Rodgers and Hammerstein classics including Carousel, The King and I, The Sound of Music, South Pacific, Oklahoma and several others. Song choices include both song and dance selections that are sure to please every audience member. Do not miss the opportunity to "wash that man right out of your hair" with Nelly from South Pacific or climb the Alps with Maria from The Sound of Music. The shows will take place in the Auditorium. Tickets are $7 per person, with checks payable to The Colony HOA. Sunday, Feb. 20, 7 pm. A must-see Tribute show featuring the champions of Rock & Soul, Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin and Chuck Berry. Each performer delivers round after round of their classic hits while the MC, Curt B, "referees" with humor and audience interaction. Beautiful dancers, music and laughs. Social hour is at 6:30 pm, and show time is 7 pm to 8:30 pm. BYOB and snacks. Tickets are $17 and are available in the Activities Office now. Tables of 8 may be purchased with separate checks. Sunday, Feb. 13, 3 pm. The Valley Winds Community Concert Band will be performing For the Love of Music in the Clubhouse Auditorium. The program will include a selection of marches, Broadway and movie music and light classics. The 50-member concert band is conducted by John Tribelhorn, assisted by Ivan Aviles and Greg Cowee.
