6 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | JANUARY 2022 | Happy New Year with gigantic wishes for a wonderful 2022! A miracle occurred at Four Seasons on Thanksgiving Day, Nov.25, 2021. Who is up at 3:30 am and alert enough to know we had no electricity? Well, may I clarify, I heard The Lodge, Legends and southern end of Four Seasons were all extremely dark. With sunrise, there is light but still no electricity. These dark spells will happen; Edison has warned us and if it's off for a short time, turkeys can still be roasted. But never fear, the front desk workers will take care of everything – even though it's way above their pay scale! They have to listen to our complaints and accusations as though they created the crisis. No electricity also means no phone or Internet service, so berating them for not notify us about the outage and not having a time limit for the outage is beyond mean. Well, praise be to Jesus, around 11 am, three wise men, Dave Lucas, Robert Bosch and Paul O'Neill (guided by the North Star?) checked in at The Lodge, found Chef Francisco in the Bistro, chopping vegetables, in the dark kitchen and asked him, "What do you need?" His reply, " I need power. If you get electricity to the convection ovens, I will serve food to everyone in an hour and a half." Our wise men jumped into their modern form of transportation, (donkeys are so outdated) and because they knew local generator owners they took off for known destinations. They returned, not with frankincense and myrrh but two generators, and then there was power to the ovens. A sign was posted on The Lodge door that Thanksgiving dinners would be available for take-out or dine-in at 2 pm. When we arrived after 3 pm, bags of to-go boxes were flying out the door, plus the Ballroom was over half filled. This buffet offered the expected Thanksgiving fare, turkey, ham, dressing, mashed potatoes with gravy – all fresh, hot and appreciated, right down to the dessert choices of apple or pumpkin pies and spice cake. Our feast, which seemed especially tasty to me, was enjoyed in an almost candlelight atmosphere because the only illumination came from the windows. This picture of Francisco, his wife Margarete, son Kevin and cook Ersa are the ones responsible for fulfilling our expectations and tummies. We owe them many thanks for being determined to feed us and not giving in to doubt. We complimented Francisco after eating our meal, his response was "It's a miracle, we did it!" That shows what can happen when we all work together! Amen! The lucky "Brunch for Two" winner for November is Cherie Redden and was drawn by Bistro waitress Sonia.
