| LIFE IN SOLERA | JANUARY 2022 | 9 Happy New Year to all residents in Solera Oak Valley Greens! We hope you enjoyed the holidays visiting with family and friends. The New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee members are looking forward to meeting the new residents who moved in since Nov. 1, 2021, through Dec. 31, 2021, at the end of January 2022. Now for the beginning of an exciting year. We encourage everyone to attend the Board meetings, which are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm, unless notified otherwise. Members are welcome to attend any Advisory Committee meeting, following the rules for observing only. Participating in events sponsored by the Recreation Activity Advisory Committee (RAAC) is a wonderful way to meet members and enjoy our activities. Also, if you have not joined a Club or Group yet, this is the time to contact someone in the Club/Group, or just show up and join the fun. Now is the time to meet our new staff members: Loni Peterson, General Manager; Amanda Morgan, Recreation Director; and Christina Moore, Receptionist. They have been with us since November and are doing an amazing job. Stop in and give them a warm Solera welcome. There has always been an issue with drivers not stopping completely at our stop signs. Please remember, whether you are driving a golf cart, riding a bicycle, or walking, to be careful and wait at the intersections to make sure there is not a car coming in either direction before you step off the curb. Drivers, please come to a complete stop. Remind your guests to do the same. A safe community is what we want and expect. Being safe is everyone's responsibility. We will be hosting our semi-annual "Social Gathering" event and "Living in a HOA" presentation the last Wednesday in April. This event is open to all Solera residents. Individual invitations are mailed to the new residents from October through March, however, everyone is welcome to attend. Please mark your calendar. The event begins at 6 and ends at 7:30 pm. Thank you to our ambassadors for everything they do in making our new residents feel welcomed to our community. ~ Marcia Casem, Chairperson, New Resident Welcome Advisory Committee Welcome Committee Living in an HOA community has rules and regulations. When doing anything in your front yard, side yard, or rear yard - there are CC&Rs (Covenants, Conditions, and Restrictions) to follow. Check out Article V, Design Review and Approval of Improvement Projects in your CC&Rs, then more specifically, the Design Guidelines. These guidelines need to be followed. Don't ask for forgiveness after you complete a project on the exterior of your home, without consulting the office and obtaining a permit. Correcting violations can be costly. All the beautiful Christmas decorations are to be removed by Jan. 10, as the Design Guidelines state (5.16). The Guidelines (5.10) also state that exterior string, rope, icicle, and lantern lighting is not permitted after Jan. 10. Such lights may be used as rear yard party decoration (short time duration) or as permanent decorative lighting under rear yard patio covers. Such lights are not permitted in the front yard. Design Review Committee Recreation Activities Committee OLD-FASHIONED PANCAKE BREAKFAST Join us on Sat., Jan 29, 8:30 to 10:30 am in the Clubhouse. $5 per person.
