Happy New Year everyone! At the November Art League meeting, the new officers were elected. They are, for President: Sharon Salcido; First Vice President: Lori Worby; Secretary: Shirley Anderson; Treasurer: Carol Cole. Sharon thanked the previous Board members, especially the former president, Jerry Searcy, for their dedication and hard work. The new Board met in December to plan the new year's activities, using a recent survey for guidance. The winners of the Mini Art Show at the meeting are pictured at right. The program featured our own Lori Worby who did a demonstration of her special "Mindful Doodling" pen and ink drawings. All of those present were able to participate and create their own colorful doodles. It was an enjoyable afternoon. Lori will then be teaching Pen and Ink Drawing at the art classes on Jan. 16, 23, 30 in the Main Clubhouse Arts & Crafts Room from 9 am until noon. The cost for all three classes is $30 for members and $35 for non-members. You can sign up for the classes by calling Lori at (909) 534-8049 ASAP. The next general meeting will be Sun., Jan. 9 at the South Clubhouse at 2 pm. There will be the usual Mini Art Show. So plan to bring a piece of art to display. Remember, only one piece per person, and it should be something that you've done recently. The guest artist will be David Fairrington, who is an old favorite, and he will do a demonstration in painting pet portraits. He will then teach the February art classes on Feb. 6, 20, 27.
