| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2022 | 49 Happy New Year To All Our Great Sun Lakes Country Club Residents. May the year 2022 be one in which you find internal peace, happiness, and joy in your heart and all your actions. Why? If you have millions of $$$$, and you do not have these, you will still have nothing. By the time you are reading this, we have all celebrated Christmas. I hope all your Christmases were full of family, great food, lots of friends, and of course, lots of awfully expensive gifts. Our RV Club had, I am assuming, a remarkably successful Christmas party. Pictures will appear in the February issue of Lifestyles and RV trips are being planned for this year. Stay tuned. Besides celebrating Christmas and it being the time to state your New Year's resolutions, it is also the time for birthdays. So here are our RV members who will celebrate birthdays in January: Vernon Green, Mike Volz, Ronnie James, Clifford Robbins, Bonnie Derrick, Anne Wood, Jan Williams, Jerry Searcy, Vernon James, Rod Kemp, Dave Hoeke, and Douglas Deans. Now on to another new year tradition, setting New Year Resolutions. First, who started this tradition that we all work on successfully completing each year? According to Microsoft Bing, ancient Babylonians are said to have been the first people to make New Year's resolutions, some 4,000 years ago. They were also the first to hold recorded celebrations in honor of the new year — though for them the year began not in January but in mid-March, when the crops were planted. Next, what are steps we all undertake to be successful in this yearly tradition? Well, if you go to the good old internet, you can find many different formulas for success. Here are a few thoughts I've come up with over the years. If they help, great. If they do not, well then, what would you expect? I am classified now as one of "those Super Seniors." Anyway, here they are: 1. Remember the "KISS METHOD". Keep them SIMPLE and SATISFYING." (Yes, I have changed the last S) 2. Make your time periods logical. 3. Remember to give yourself "mini rewards" along the way. 4. Aim at total success. However, be willing to accept "Partial Success" as a win. Finally, my New Year's resolution for all you who are reading my articles: I wish you an incredibly happy and successful 2022. Happy New Year to you all.
