| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2022 | 5 By Jerry Monahan, Board President, and Laurie Larson, Chair of Communications Board in Four Seasons Beaumont - edited and reprinted with permission in cooperation with Randy Robbins, Sun Lakes resident There were meetings with both city officials and development company representatives. There were letters of appeal, protesters, and speakers presenting concerns about health and traffic congestion. Despite the effort of many citizens, the Banning Planning Commission voted yes to go ahead with the warehouse-retail project scheduled to be built across from the main gate of Sun Lakes. The battle is not over. The Pass Action Group (PAG), chaired by Sun Lakes resident Randy Robbins, has made a continued effort to stop the 600,000 square- foot project located off of Highland Springs, behind Albertsons. At the time of this writing, the PAG retained a lawyer to appeal the December decision of the commission. This warehouse will impact our residents of Sun Lakes, Four Seasons Beaumont and the surrounding community with polluted air and congested traffic in and around already crowded intersections, and with it, possibly delayed response time by fire, police, and ambulance. Residents are encouraged to get involved. Donations for legal fees and costs can be sent by check, made out to Pass Action Group and mailed to Randy Robbins, 5972 Indian Canyon Drive, Banning 92220. A Zelle account may also be operational now. Any amount will help fight this project. Contact Robbins at randyLLump@yahoo.com with any questions about the efforts of PAG. You can also go to passactiongroup.org to join the PAG to stay current with the latest information and request to join Pass Area Action Group on Facebook.
