Happy New Year everyone! It's time to break out in song once
again! As we start a new year it brings to mind that we are at the
first month of the year. This idea of firsts and number ones reminds
me of when I did a weekly top 10 countdown show of pop songs on a
few radio stations during the 1980s. I covered the national hit songs
from 1949 to 1970. Here is a list of the top pop songs at number one
according to Billboard Magazine for every January of each era from
the 1940s to the 1980s.

As time passes, even songs that were huge hits and at number one
nationally can be forgotten with the passage of time. At our Sun
Lakes Goodtimes Karaoke, we try to track down as many of your
favorite songs that you love to sing as possible. There are some great
songs that have not yet been converted into Karaoke songs but we are
keeping our eyes open when they do.
Barb Miller, Rosie Ingalls and myself, D.J. Blast, want to invite
you to a brand-new year of Karaoke. This January we will be in the
South Clubhouse Fri., Jan. 22, starting 5:30 or 6 pm, depending on the
availability of the room, and lasting until 9 pm.

Karaoke Group
Chorale
The Chorale is open to membership for any Sun Lakes resident.
It is divided into five sections: Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, Basses, and
Baritones. Our practice sessions are held on Mondays from 9:30 am
to 12:15 pm. Prior to each of our two annual concerts, additional
practices for individual sections are held.
Rehearsals for our Spring Concert series begins with member
registration at 8:30 am on Mon., Jan. 10 in the Main Clubhouse
Multipurpose Room. Our first rehearsal follows in the Main
Clubhouse Ballroom at 9:30 am. There is a membership fee of $25 for
each concert season.
