We will kick off the new year with our annual "That's Entertainment" production "A Speakeasy – the First 100 Years." Sun Lakes audiences will be entertained by our local residents as they sing and dance their way into your hearts. INTRODUCING "THE POTLUCK PLAYERS" Get ready to sign up for our continuing acting classes taught by Mary Flynn. Come to our first class on March 6 from 4 to 6 pm. This class is for all levels of theater experience, beginning to advanced and directing. The focus of this class will be preparing scenes and monologues for presentation at our quarterly meet-ups. (First class is free, $25 for all six sessions). If you can help with scenery, costumes, make-up, lights and sound, please come to our first meeting on Tues., Jan. 4 at 1pm in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom to hear about additional events and activities. We need your talented helping hands and ideas. NEW MEMBERS WELCOME Become a member of our theater family. Dues for 2022 are $10 pp or $15 per couple. Members are invited to our monthly meetings which are held every three months and include dinner and entertainment. Join us for field trips to theater productions near and far. Look for our first show, "Music of Simon & Garfunkel," starring Nashville based duo AJ Swearingen and Jayne Kelli, on Sun., Jan. 9 in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom. Swearingen and Kelli recreate the music, memories and magic of the most famous folk-rock duo of our time, Simon and Garfunkel. AJ has been performing this music for twenty years with mastery of Paul Simon's intricate guitar playing. His deep baritone blends perfectly with Kelli's angelic vocals delivering a true tribute to the sound of the 1960's Greenwich Village, NY coffeehouse performances. This show will kick off a two-month membership drive. It will be open seating, and open to all Sun Lakes residents! Tickets for each show are $20 for members, $25 for non-resident guests. Doors open at 6 pm, and the show begins at 7 pm. Make checks out to Friendship Club, and drop them off at 5168 Rio Bravo Drive.
