| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2022 | 33
It's January and that means it is the start of a new calendar year!
Most people think about, and often do, make resolutions for the new
year. Some of those resolutions are kept successfully and many are
soon forgotten. One way to stay on track with having success in
keeping the resolutions for 2022 is to put them into writing. How
better to do that than to join with members of the Sun Lakes Creative
Writers. Doing so may help in establishing resolutions for the new
year that are creative, realistic, and attainable. Why not give it a try?
The Creative Writers of Sun Lakes is a small interest group of 20
or so members that meets 3 to 5 pm the first Monday of the month
(Jan. 3 this month) and again at 3 to 5 pm the third Wednesday
of the month (Jan. 19 this month). The meetings are held in the
Multipurpose Room in the Main Clubhouse. Any Sun Lakes resident
is encouraged to join the group, hear what some of the long-time
members in the group are writing, share something you have written,
and bounce ideas you have about what you are reading and writing.
We are a casual, easy-going group. Some members are long-time
writers and others may write only short notes in the birthday cards
they send to their grandchildren. Some members have published
their work and others simply write for self-satisfaction with whatever
is on their minds and in their hearts. Anything fits — poetry,
fiction, non-fiction, biography, autobiography, illustrated children's
books — you name it, it is both acceptable and encouraged in our
meetings.
Some other important facts to consider — there are no dues, there
is no application form to submit, there is no initiation ritual, and
hazing of new members is not allowed. It is a group of Sun Lakers
who enjoy putting their creative thoughts and ideas into writing.
How can you do any better than that?
