| SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | JANUARY 2022 | 3 By Marsha Midgett Welcome 2022! When you were young, did you ever think you would see the year 2022? Well, here we are, enjoying the wonderful life we have in Sun Lakes! On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank all the volunteers who used their time in decorating the Clubhouses for the holidays! The district trees looked fantastic! There is so much talent in our wonderful community, and we are grateful that many of you stepped up and shared your gift with everyone! As we start this year, the community is working diligently to do whatever is possible to stop the warehouse construction across Sun Lakes Blvd. The Board backs the efforts of the Pass Action Group. The current CC&Rs do not allow for any HOA financial contributions to any issues outside the walls of Sun Lakes. However, as individual residents of the community, Board members can support the group in any way. In the November and December Open Board sessions, the different committee members were approved by the Board. Thank you to the members that have volunteered their time and have stepped up to keep our association the best that it can be! Over the past few months, during our executive sessions, the Board has been involved in disciplinary hearings in increasing numbers. I think I can say for everyone on the Board, having to conduct these hearings is not a favorite thing to do. They are for infractions of rules that are clearly stated in the Rules and Regulations. If you are unsure of a rule, please look it up on the website to clarify it. The rules are also printed in the Sun Lakes phone book. When all else fails, please call the administrative office for any questions you may have. Parking violations are also increasing. If you have guests staying overnight, please make sure they have the correct pass displayed in the window of their vehicle. If a resident needs to park outside the garage overnight, a valid pass must be visible for Community Patrol to see. As a resident, you are responsible for you and your guests to follow the rules and regulations regarding parking in the community. The Restaurant and Lounge were very busy during the month of December. While it would be wonderful to be fully staffed, the challenge continues to find employees to fill the vacant spots. Some employees are hired, stay for a brief time, but then leave for a better paying job. I ask that you continue to be patient and generous with everyone who works in the Restaurant and Lounge. They are doing the best they can with limited people working to serve everyone. Nothing would be better than to be able to open completely, but realistically, it may be months before that can happen. Your patience and understanding are appreciated! Let's all have a great 2022! Quote of the Month: "Be patient and understanding. Life is too short to be vengeful or malicious." Phillips Brooks From the President's Desk
