February is the month of love. In that spirit, the YCC is featuring
a funny, love story movie about baseball and second chances. The
Yankles, a 2009 comedy written and directed by David R Brooks, is
playing at the Main Clubhouse on Wed., Feb. 9 at 7 pm.
This movie is about Charlie Jones, a washed up, former Major
League ballplayer, and how he gets a second chance at life and love by
managing an orthodox Jewish yeshiva baseball team.
However, this is not just a funny movie about baseball. It's about
second chances, reconciliation and forgiveness. It's all about making
mistakes and moving on. Isn't that what we try to display during
February when we share candy and flowers with our loved ones?
Are we not trying to tell them that we all make mistakes, we still love
them, and everything is going to be alright?
Members are free and non-members are $3, reservations are not
required.
One reviewer noted that if you liked A League of Their Own, but
with Orthodox Jewish Men studying to be rabbis, you will like this
film.
