10 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | FEBRUARY 2022 | Why do we have a Landscape Committee? Four Seasons at Hemet is an HOA (Homeowner's Association). When you purchased your home, you also purchased into the community. As homeowners, our resources extend far beyond the bounds of our homes and property boundaries, and include our private streets, community facilities including our Lodge, and recreation facilities, as well as our common area landscaping. Many homeowners value the quality of our community environment, its beauty, and the excellent upkeep that protects our property values. How is this accomplished? The Landscape Committee, as well as our Board of Directors, Architectural Review Committee, Facilities Committee, Access Control Committee, and FirstService Residential staff works in concert to insure the continued upkeep and excellence of our neighborhoods. As part of our community operational documents, the Landscape Committee was established by our Board of Directors as a seven member committee composed of resident volunteers. The Committee coordinates with our Landscape Maintenance Contractor and conducts monthly reviews of our Common Area landscaping, recommends improvements and plant replacements, oversees tree trimming schedules, prepares landscape budget forecasting, and reviews Resident Landscape Request Forms from Legends homeowners (the only homes where landscaping is maintained by the Homeowner's Association at an additional fee). Landscape for all other homes is maintained privately. Private landscape modifications are reviewed by the Architectural Review Committee. Check out one of the re-landscape projects that was completed in 2021. Just inside the front gate, a large Carrotwood tree had died. This area was re-landscaped to remove some grass, install green ground cover, and a new crepe myrtle tree. Re-landscaping efforts include low maintenance and water-wise plants that complement living in a desert climate. A photo of the area is included. The Landscape Committee meets monthly and as of 2022, has determined that the amount of work will necessitate two meetings monthly. We currently have vacancies on the Committee due to recent resignations. We will be recruiting for new members this month. Please consider adding your talents to the Committee. Homeowners are invited to our meetings. To answer any questions regarding common area landscaping, please contact Maria Donti at The Lodge.
