Well, that was an interesting January. It was not what I expected. As all of you, I so badly want to feel like we are past all the things that are keeping us from living our best life. I am sure there are always obstacles that hold us back and missing a couple events won't change our trajectory, but I really do understand all the disappointment along the way with the starts and the stops. Maybe our best life isn't in a building. I have heard from so many residents that were finally able to meet those new grandbabies. So many people have downsized, choosing to keep items they consider valuable. My aunt recently downsized her home. No more stairs to climb. One bathroom to clean verses four. I do know she still has a quilt room (priorities). After much sorting and sifting the hard decisions were made and the junk truck drove away. Before the boxes were even unpacked, she was faced with packing for a mandatory fire evacuation - she lives in a suburb of Denver. These are truly the times that try men's souls and we make those snap decisions of what is most important. The wind shifted, the evacuation was lifted and she was able to put away the few items she had. In the coming months, you can start sorting your stuff. We will have a Shredding Day and a Community Yard Sale in the spring. These events will give you a chance to evaluate the stuff you value and make room for the new. Volunteers are the heart and soul of all communities. The Four Seasons at Hemet has so many residents who give their time and talents to better our lives on a daily basis. A huge part of my job is to support those volunteering and I work with some of the most generous and kind people. We spend more time together either by phone, email, or in person. As an employee, there is an expectation that I will deal with a small amount of unhappy people; it is part of working with people. It hurts my heart when I hear of a volunteer having to deal with rude or inconsiderate people. This month, please make an extra-special effort to thank those around you who have stepped up to run your group/club or card games. Committee members put in 100s of hours each year; please reach out and share the love! Now the fun part. It is time to collect peanut butter and jelly for the Community Pantry again! Last year was so much fun as the collection grew — two by two this perfect pair was loaded into the barrels. The challenge is on for the month of February; let's beat last year's numbers! 4 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | FEBRUARY 2022 | From Your Activities Director By Tracie Rodgers T decating voluntrs once again transfmed regular plain trs into holiday magic!
