COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD | THE COLONY NEWS | FEBRUARY 2022 | 27 Saturday, Feb. 26, 6 pm in the Auditorium The Social Committee is happy to announce the return of Mardi Gras! With the passing of the 12th Night on Jan. 6, New Orleanians take down their Christmas trees and enter into the season of merriment — CARNIVAL! Feasting and fun continue until 47 days before Easter, referred to as Fat Tuesday, the final day of revelry, before Ash Wednesday. Doors to the Auditorium will open at 6 pm, and you're encouraged to dress in costume or wear the Mardi Gras colors: purple, which stands for justice, green for faith and gold for power. We will feast on traditional Bayou jambalaya with chicken, shrimp and sausage. Red beans and rice, green salad in bowls, fruit salad, mini croissants, jelly doughnuts or beignets complete the menu. This is a BYOB event. So, get ready to fais do-do and maybe a little zydeco with the live music of American Made Band. Tickets are $25 per person and will be available to purchase on a first come- first served basis in the Annex on Friday, Feb. 4, at 8 am. Checks only, payable to The Colony at Cal Oaks Social Committee (we do have a stamp). NO NUMBERS WILL BE GIVEN OUT. If you have any questions, please call Holley Graham at 951- 377-3240. MARDI GRAS Genteel Voices Sunday, Feb. 27, 6:30 pm. Our 22nd edition of Music and the Movies presents true experiences in which major challenges are faced and overcome, becoming amazing stories that inspire us. Lives were saved from possible disasters (Apollo 13 and Sully), dreams became reality (Chariots of Fire and Out of Africa), and unjust laws were changed (Evelyn and Selma). Following clips from each film, GENTEEL VOICES perform Ron Gentile's arrangements of songs appropriate to the movie themes. For $5 per ticket or two for $8, you'll enjoy theater-style seating for a two-hour program. Included in your ticket price are snacks, popcorn and soft drinks (BYOB if you wish). For tickets, see Cindy at the reception desk or call Ron Gentile (951-894-6907). Cash is preferred or you may pay by check payable to Connie O'Brien. Music And The Movies XXII True and Inspiring Stories UPCOMING EVENTS… OPEN TO ALL!
