18 | THE COLONY NEWS | FEBRUARY 2022 | COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD By Rita Nastri, 698-8640 The Elf spent a very busy Christmas season this year diving into those big Toys for Tots boxes in the Clubhouse lobby while sorting and counting and talking to friends as they passed by with encouragement. She was once again so thankful to see the generosity of our Colony neighbors who filled the Toys for Tots barrels multiple times with beautiful gifts for needy children. You donated close to 500 toys, and I thank you for them. Southwest Riverside County Marine Corps League, Detachment 1057, and the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve also thank you for your gifts and toys for the children in need. As in the past, this effort has not only provided some joy to children during the holidays, but also sent a message of hope which can motivate children to grow into responsible, productive, patriotic citizens and community leaders. I particularly want to thank the Ladies Racquet Club who again invited the Elf to their December luncheon, the Monday Bridge Group who brought the barrels into the Auditorium to be filled by the players, and the Corte Calanova neighbors who brought toys to their Christmas party. Knowing that there are so many good causes out there, I thank you for considering the Toys for Tots program in your holiday giving this year. The Elf will see you in November! "SPOONERVILLE" If you missed it in 2021, catch it in Dec. 2022. Jim and Bessie Spooner's (pictured above) Annual Christmas Open House and Bake Exchange is for all their Colony neighbors and friends. It was a lot of fun and the baked goods were delicious! Thank you for your generosity to Toys for Tots
