20 | OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2022 | It's that time again to keep the membership apprised of the happenings at the Clubhouse. We were able to pull off Do Dues Day, despite the current concerns of the pandemic. Mask wearing is required indoors, a mandate that was extended to Feb. 15. We witnessed compliance overall, and we were able to accommodate over 29 clubs. They occupied space throughout the Clubhouse and around the recreational areas. The RV Club hot dog lunch sold out by noon, and everyone appeared to be having a good time. Thanks to all for persevering through the challenge and coming together, in a safe and orderly manner. Now, there are those who have expressed they want the event set up the same way next year. We would like to hear if you share that sentiment. The Recreation Department will continue to research, plan, and program new activities. Unfortunately, the two seminars planned for in January and February had to be canceled. We have put the "Secrets for Ageless Living," and "How to Reduce the Risk of Becoming the Next Victim of Elder Abuse," on hold for now. Tri-City Medical Center has weighed in on wanting to come back and host their informative seminars. At this time, we will continue to chug along as best we can. At some point, we may see a drastic surge of people wanting to make a comeback and the staff will certainly welcome this change. Before COVID, we were averaging about 650 reservations a month. This Clubhouse was "hoppin!" Which raises the question, will there be a "Spring Eggstravaganza?" With the golf course under renovation, we are considering how it could come together. We certainly "hop" so! Scheduling continues with special requests for private room rentals. The private room rentals can include: a birthday party, a wedding, a dinner with family, a memorial, but all need to be attended by a resident. The resident becomes the contact when setting up the reservation and pays the rental fee (if applicable). They are held responsible for their guests (those who do not reside in OHCC) behavior and use of the facilities. Staff will assist in making the arrangements and help with the details, so that the event is a memorable occasion for all. While visiting the Clubhouse, appropriate clothing is required; shoes and shirts must be worn inside. Those wearing bathing suits and robes must access the pool area through the outdoor pool entrances. If items are left in the pool area, check out the large tub located near the outside shower for lost/found items. All items that are wet need to be left in the Locker Rooms, preferably the lockers. All other items can be turned into the Front Desk. Right now, there is a collection of jackets and outerwear due to the cold weather, if not claimed all items will be donated. February is the month for love- a time to emphasize the importance of love in our lives. The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched – they must be felt with the heart. So, let's share the love. We will know if you have read this article - as the Clubhouse will have a Valentine Coffee Bar and Donut Bash, from 8 to 10 am, on Mon., Feb. 14. Pay it forward and share the love with those around you! Recreation News By Chris Bessey, Recreation Director
