| OHCC LIVING | FEBRUARY 2022 | 31 As of the beginning of the year, it is unclear whether in-person meetings should occur while the Omicron variant is raging, so the Board decided to offer a photo shoot as our activity for February. With any luck, we can have an in-person meeting by March. The February photo shoot is a challenge to make several images of the same object but with something different about each shot. We are asking that the objects photographed be within OHCC, preferably a point of architecture or of some plants, but it could be your neighbor's fancy imported car, or the swimming pool, or the pop-up food vendor, or anything. The idea is that you submit three photos of the same subject, taken on the same day, and three photos of a second subject, taken on the same day (not necessarily the same day as the first object) and three photos of a third subject, also taken during one day. For any particular subject, you shoot the same thing but change some circumstance. Fazor example, you might shoot early in the morning, at midday, and at dusk. Same subject, different light. We might get lucky and catch a couple of mornings with heavy marine layer or get really lucky and have some rain. If you have filters for your camera, you could take photos with and without the filters. If you have a telephoto lens, you could shoot from a great distance, and then use a regular lens to shoot from a nearer distance. You can use aperture priority and adjust the aperture to make for a blurred background one time and everything in focus the next time. If you're using a smartphone, you can accomplish the same thing by choosing portrait mode. The idea is to make you think about how to present the subjects, and how to use features of your gear that you might not be used to using. The photos for this article were taken from the same spot in Positano, Italy. Obviously, the light was different. When complete, please email photos to ohccphotoclub@gmail. com or share from Dropbox, Google Photo, etc., or send memory cards or thumb drives to Mike Thornton. The OHCC Photo Club is open to all residents. We have some members who are experts, but most are enthusiastic amateurs. Annual dues are only $8. Photography
