Chamber Awards $1,000 Scholarship to YHS Grad The Yucaipa Valley Chamber of Commerce was pleased to present a $1,000 scholarship to deserving student Ernest K MapfunyaChimbambo (Kanye Chimbambo) from Yucaipa High School at a ceremony on June 11. The Scholarship Committee from the Chamber Board, Chairman Jim Hammond and Director Dora Ordonez, met with five students this year. Ernest was selected based on financial need and his interest in business industrial organization. Ernest plans to major in Business or Psychology. He was active in high school clubs and sports such as Social Club, YHS Soccer, and volunteered at YHS during the summers of 2011 and 2012. He was recognized for earning a high GPA during soccer season. It is a pleasure to present the awards to the students at the ceremony. It is so important to help our young people further their education and career goals, and it is our hope that some of the students who have, and will receive, awards will find their way back to Yucaipa, open a business and give back to the community. ~ Dora Ordonez, Scholarship Committee Yucaipa Certified Farmers Market 6 Join your neighbors every Friday night, 6 to 9 pm, and pick up some fresh, local produce, specialty items and food. The first Friday of the month is Kid's Night. On the second and fourth Fridays, there is a live band and a beer and wine garden. On the fourth Friday, you can also check out a great car show. The Farmers Market is located in Uptown Historic Yucaipa on Yucaipa Blvd., between California and Bryant Streets.
