Richard Wilson, Apple Annie's Restaurant Angel Santos, Boost Mobile The sky is NOT falling businesses are rebounding By Pamela Emenger, President/CEO, Yucaipa Valley Chamber of Commerce Contrary to what you see on the news, the last time I looked up, the sky was still there. Yes, our economy remains in a recession and yes, many organizations say business is down. But the more I speak with area business leaders, the more I hear about enterprises that actually are increasing their revenue compared to a year ago. How are they doing it? I believe it is due to the ingenuity and perseverance of those who refuse to accept the "hunker down" mentality. They are staying in touch with their customers and asking "how can we serve you?" Organizations that have closed or consolidated represent opportunity for those that remain to pick up new business. And leaders who persevere will be the ones who grow their business and gain market share while many others climb into a shell and miss opportunities. In these times, we need to keep a positive mindset – for ourselves and our co-workers – and reach out to our current and potential customers. There are many ways to network and market without spending a lot of money. One of the best ways is to take advantage of your Yucaipa Valley Chamber of Commerce. With expertise in marketing, business assistance, business education, economic development and lobbying, the chamber helps small business grow and succeed, creates and maintains a climate for business growth and strong quality of life, serves as a business advocate in city, state, local and national government relations, and provides credibility for your business through association. To become a member, whether as a business or individual, call the Chamber at 909-790-1841 or stop by our office at 35139 Yucaipa Blvd., Yucaipa.
