sun lakers at canyon lanes A group of Sun Lakers from Canyon Lanes went to Sam's Town in Las Vegas, in June, to participate in a no-tap tournament. They did quite well with nineteen of them winning some of the cash prizes. There were over 500 participants from many states, including Florida, Texas and Colorado. Good job bowlers! Sandy Hepburn and his three ladies, Alice & Susie Esquivel, and Pat Sedlacek (4 for Fun) are the front runners in the competition. Team "Hit & Miss" (Barbara and Stan Semic, Sally Brown and Gene Sax) are only one point behind. Each week we see seasoned bowlers excel and be the "Top Scorer" for the week. As an example, in the "Scratch Series Category," for the Men: Andy Toro Sr. (763), Marv Steggell (582), Bruce Herwig (572), and for the Ladies: Barbara Semic (510), Ginger Chavez (497), and Teri Comerford (477). The organizational meeting for the winter league will be held in the Main Clubhouse Ballroom on Aug. 26, at 10 am. If you're interested in joining the bowling league, plan on attending. Teams are forming up now, so if you have a group that wants some fun, exercise, and a chance for camaraderie, call Teri (760-217-9656) or Bud (845-5551) for more information. summer bowling at canyon lanes The team of Terry Brown, Betsy Zalewski, Pat Bisesi and Ron Krogh continue to lead the Sun Laker III Wednesday summer league by three and a half games with six weeks of competition remaining. The Four Surprises (Joni and Hal Taylor, Terry & Ross Prather) are second, closely followed by The Pickups (Lou Seymour, Lisa Koerbel, Carolee Matthews and Jerry Pardue). Bill McDonald posted a 618 scratch and 777 handicap series, with high games of 204 & 223 to take top honors for the week with Ray Roberson rolling a 600 scratch series and high games of 208 and 236. The Green Machine (LaWanda and Ray Roberson, Mel Green and Darrell Botello) have posted the highest Scratch Series with a pin total of 2153 and highest scratch game of 768 although being currently tied for sixth place in the 11 team league. Handicap Series leader is the Almosts (Hazel Lewis, Curley Mann, Audrey Vaughn and Ida Nily)with a 2672 and the Pinbusters (Pat and Herb Watson, Marianne Wirick & George Johsz) have rolled a 945 to lead the Highest Handicap game. Ray Roberson's 626 leads the Scratch sun lakers & friends tuesday bowling league It's sign-up time again! We roll on Tuesdays, 9 am at Morongo Lanes. The season starts in mid-October and runs through mid April. Our sign up meeting is Sept. 24, 1 pm, in the Main Clubhouse Multipurpose Room. Ida Nily leads all women keglers with a Scratch series of 546 and LaWanda Roberson has rolled a 200 scratch for top honors. The 679 Handicap Series by Lisa Koerbel and Terry Brown's Handicap Game of 269 are leaders in this area.
