Emergency Preparedness Committee (EPAC) Communications Advisory Committee By Theresa Rossetti, Resident The CAC was established for the purpose of advising and making recommendations to the Board on matters pertaining to community communications. In our monthly magazine, The View, we try to provide the community with articles of interest to our diverse demographics at SDV. We are happy to include photos and pieces submitted by residents and encourage any and all to do so. This year, we are working on updating and improving the information regarding our clubs and groups and working with the management staff to ensure the calendar in The View is as accurate as possible. Current members of the committee include Theresa Rossetti, Kathy Caraher, Clare Mendez, Dick Roppé, Cindy Ponce de Leon and Mary McKernan. We meet the last Tuesday of every month at 10 am. Our Editor-in-Chief is our Lifestyle Director, Teri Collett, our Board Liaison is Linda Weiss. Feel free to contact any of us if you would like to write something or are interested in joining us. By Karen Stepp, Resident The DRC members and Code Compliance personnel thought it a good idea to periodically publish information to assist you in filling out a Home Improvement Application (HIA) as well as a list of compliance violations we are noticing throughout the SDV Community. It is our hope that these articles will be helpful, save you some time and maybe even some money. To facilitate an on-time review and approval of your HIA it is important that the form is complete and all required information is submitted. Incomplete HIAs may hold up your review for a month or more. Most importantly, the name and licensing of your contractor must be included. If a contractor is not being used, please note that the homeowner will complete the project. Repainting the exterior of your residence the same color does not necessitate completion of an HIA; however, the newly published DRC Guidelines require homeowners to submit the "Color Scheme" of the fresh paint to management for record keeping purposes. If painting the exterior different (new), colors an HIA is required with the number of the new paint scheme. Paint color schemes are available in the office. Please remember that all irrigation lines must be thoroughly covered either by turf, gravel, mulch, decomposed granite, etc. Also, we are noticing a good many artificial plants shrubs, and trees in front yards. Our guidelines specifically prohibit the use of any artificial foliage in front yards. Updated Design Guidelines are available on the Community Website or in the office. If you need assistance in filling out your HIA, or have questions regarding exterior improvements, you can contact Erica at the office, or any member of the Design Review Committee. Finally, a huge THANK YOU to all who have diligently managed the leaves, palm fronds, branches, tumble weeds and other various debris this windy winter. Your efforts in keeping SDV clean and beautiful are appreciated. Neighborly Notes from the Design Review Committee Name That Tune
