As our membership continues to grow, February was particularly fun for Late Bloomers. We celebrated Valentine's Day at Los Vaqueros Cantina & Grill in our own style with a Chocolate Party! Followed by an excursion to UC Riverside Botanical Gardens and lunch at Mundial in Riverside on the 24th, we are never without seeds to plant and ideas to cultivate. This exciting club is never without botanical things to do and March will be no exception. Just in time after Daylight Savings time, Late Bloomers will spring into spring on Mon., March 14! In lieu of our regular meeting (in the Arts & Crafts Room) we will travel to Armstrong Nursery in Temecula. Hosting an open forum about "All Things Spring" just for us, Penny, (our favorite Armstrong Garden Extraordinaire) will answer questions, offer expert advice, and continue to educate us on all things plant-related. We will begin our day by meeting in the SW Lodge parking lot at 10 am, arrange our carpools, and leave by 10:15 am. Our first stop will be the Broken Yoke Café in Temecula for brunch, and then onto the nursery. This is a RSVP event, and if you are not already a Garden Club Member, we need to know you plan to join us. Please RSVP how many in attendance to the email below by March 10. Late Bloomers normally meets every second Monday at 1 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room, and we love to meet new people. Sharing gardening tips, traveling together and learning from each other are the blooms growing in our garden. All residents are welcome to attend meetings and trips. We had fabulous meetings in January and February! (Remember, I write one month in advance.) We meet the fourth Monday of each month in the Ballroom at 2 pm. Mark your calendars so you won't miss a meeting. President Debbie Foster, remains excited. She is a dynamo! Keep her number handy (805)- 406-6581. Meetings start with our motto: "Having fun – Being Positive – Staying Energized and Giving Back to the Community!" Who wouldn't want to be part of a group that follows those rules? We voted to continue supporting Valley Restart as our community project. They now house families. Javier, from Valley Restart, spoke at our February meeting sharing who they are and how we may best help. In addition to our normal paper good donations they could use some gently used coats, sweaters and blankets. Another opportunity to help those in need. January found us in Palm Springs enjoying lunch at the Cheesecake Factory then off to Moller's Nursery. Notice the picture of beautiful ladies outside of the restaurant with huge smiles! The middle of February was a trip to Regal Theaters in San Jacinto enjoying the movie, Marry Me, followed by having coffee. The end of February finds us at Old Town Temecula Community Theater enjoying the matinee of The Wizard of Oz. Whew! Coming in March will be a visit to Play with Your Food in Hemet. It is a matinee showing that we hope to fill two tables. I know you are thinking, "I don't have time for all those outings!" Neither do I. I partake of things that appeal to me when I have time. Just choose your fun! And we have so many fun activities coming up. Attend our March meeting and you'll be hooked! We usually end our meetings with a game that brings about laughter. Last meeting Patsy Racine had a prize for someone who had the most items in her purse from her list. Member Carmie was our winner. We also had raffle ticket winners. Members of our club can join us on our outings. To be a member you pay your yearly dues and come to our monthly meetings as often as you can. For more information about our club call, Debbie Foster, at (805) 406-6581. We are doing our best to be safe while still having fun. Laughter is important as well as friendship. We extend the invitation to come and laugh with us. We truly are FS sisters. Hope to see you next month. Cookie FS Ladies Club Late Bloomers Garden Club
