FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2022 57 I moved here in 2014 and have seen the Paddle Tennis Group grow, which translates to more friends, laughter, and fun during and after games. Paddle players are not a quiet bunch — the enthusiasm can be heard as far as The Lodge. I see players transitioning from pickleball and tennis to paddle tennis as it's not as demanding, but still a good workout. We are friendly and have volunteers who will give lessons. I encourage new residents to come see our paddle courts. Check out the game of paddle tennis and try it out. Like myself and the rest of the active players, you will be hooked. It can be addicting and the game goes fast. Seldom are you sitting at the bench waiting to play. Pictured above are players from 2017 who are still very active in the game. Our winter hours are Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, 2 to 4 pm. We also have a group that plays Saturdays at 9 am. Hope to see you all at The Courts. ~ Syed Ali, (909) 210-9359 Paddle Tennis Meet our Player of the Month -- Julia Dobos Where were you born? I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. When did you move into Four Seasons and where did you move from? I moved into Four Seasons in September 2021 from Rancho Cucamonga. What attracted you to Four Seasons? All the activities provided to all residents. What field did you work in before you retired? I was working in an accounting department, and then I switched around as a caregiver for the last few years. What are some of your favorite activities now that you are retired? I like sports so I am doing ping pong, water volleyball, and pickleball. They are my favorites here. What interesting places have you traveled to? Israel, because what I read from the Bible comes to life. New Zealand, it's so peaceful. We saw green pastures and it reminded me of Psalm 23. Other places are nice, too, because I like to try different kinds of food. How did you get started playing ping pong? I played ping pong when I was a teenager. Then I played more volleyball because I was on a team for school and the community. What do you enjoy most about ping pong? People at ping pong are fun, we can laugh together and share some stories together, too! They didn't mind playing with me when I first came and didn't have much experience. Would you encourage other residents to join our ping pong club and why? I really encourage other residents to come and have more fun with the ping pong group. If you haven't visited us yet, come and see how much fun we have. We always welcome everyone. I felt so welcome when I first came even though I didn't know one person in the group. We play ping pong Monday through Saturday from 2 to 4 pm at The Courts. Come join us or contact Niles Sundstrom at (818) 826-1380 for more information. ~ Niles Sundstrom Table Tennis
