56 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2022 New Beginnings! The Hoopsters is a brand new Hula-Hoop club that started four weeks ago and is gaining popularity each week. We started with five members and now have 13. After a month, we outgrew the aerobics room and moved to the Ballroom. Come and join the fun; it is a great workout! The club has a lot of fitness potential that we did not know it would have. Some thought they would only be hula-hooping, but we are incorporating stretching exercises and some people are dancing with their hoops. This is an excellent core workout that also strengthens your arms. Getting started… To begin, all you need is a hoop and room to move. Starting with the correct hoop is key to the success of this exercise. Beginners should use a larger hoop as it spins more slowly. The class has accumulated several types and sizes of hoops. So, if you are new, you will have an opportunity to try different hoops first before purchasing your own. Also, you can purchase a custom sized, handmade hoop from me for $15. Online tutorials: You can find numerous online tutorials that will guide you through hula-hooping properly. We watched Caitlyn Woods' YouTube Channel called 'SpinJoy® Hoop Dance' to get started. Caitlyn is a dynamic Hoop instructor who also sells her own hoops. When it comes to Hula-Hooping, you are learning how to use your hoop and move the right way while simultaneously working your cardiovascular system. For this reason, it is good to find your favorite songs and hoop to them. This way you can separate your workouts into a few five-to-10-minute sessions per day. As you gain strength and improve your technique, your workouts will get longer. We meet on Fridays at 7:30 am in the Ballroom at The Lodge. No experience is necessary. This is sounding like fun already. Join us for our Introduction to Pickleball classes most Saturdays at 9:30 am. Bring your water and court shoes, and we'll help you learn the fastest growing game in the USA. Call or text Jeromee at (408) 858-7828 for more information. Thinking about joining? If you can serve and return the serve, we want to see you on the courts. • Serve: With practice, players should be able to vary the speed of their underhand serves and alternate between opponents' forehand and backhand sides. • Return of Serve: The player's goal is to keep the ball in play and then to advance to the net area. Congratulations to LynnRae and Jim for winning gold at the Loma Linda Tournament in January. Over 270 players were registered and Four Seasons Beaumont players took GOLD!
