FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MARCH 2022 7 By Cindy Graves Hooray! After waiting several years, we're finally holding that long-awaited event… Mardi Gras! The HOA is sponsoring this event; all you have to do is go to The Lodge front desk by March 3 and ask for a ticket. Here's what to expect: We're having a golf cart line-up at The Lodge at 4:30 to 4:45 pm. There will be a contest for the best-decorated cart and the top winners will get a prize. Then we'll march into the Ballroom, possibly with to-go order New Orleans style dinner from the Kopper Kettle (if you choose). The Hot Jazz Oasis, a Dixieland band will play, folks will dance, there will be a traditional "Cake Walk" dance contest, we'll eat Kings Cake, and those who find the babies in the cake will win a prize. We'll have masks and handkerchiefs to wave and parasols to twirl. If you really want to have fun ahead of time, bring your own decorated parasols; there are plenty of ideas on Pinterest. We're having a King and Queen of the Mardi Gras (thank you Regina and Thomas), and we'll finish things off with the "Second line" at 8 pm. We'll follow the strolling band and the King and Queen out to the lighted golf carts for the start of the parade. The parade route will be along Four Seasons Circle, so if you're at home and want to see the parade, get to the circle — it will be going on from 8 to about 8:30 pm. (A note to those who have attended authentic Mardi Gras in Louisiana: this Four Seasons version is not a "clothing optional" event). We will have a costume contest so dress up and get in the running to win a prize. It's going to be a blast, so I hope you'll be there! March is also the month for one of our most popular events — the Spring Craft Boutique. There will be around 65 resident vendors selling their amazing handcrafted items. If you need a unique gift for that special someone, this is the place to find it. The date for the Boutique is March 19 from 9 am to 2 pm. There will be door- prize opportunities throughout the day to make it more fun for the shoppers. Don't forget that the outside community is also invited so my recommendation is that you come early to get the best selection. As if we didn't have enough to do on March 19, Karaoke will also be taking place in the Ballroom from 5:30 to 8:30 pm. Feel free to bring your favorite beverages and food or purchase something tasty at the Bistro. Here's a secret for you… many residents have been inquiring as to where the heck The Lodge lobby furniture went. Well, the Board of Directors approved a proposal to refresh the 17-year old, well-used décor. Enter stage right, internationally-known interior designer Genaro Lagdameo! I first heard of his outstanding work while attending the incredible Pasadena Showcase, which is an extravagant display of interior designers work from all over. Genaro took center stage and wowed everyone who attended. I nearly fell out of my seat months later when I heard that he and his partner had just moved into Four Seasons! I set up a meeting and shared with him our frumpy Lodge story and he generously offered to design and orchestrate our Lobby refresh (as a community service, no less!). Keep your fingers crossed, because if all of this production project goes as hoped (barring supply chain and labor challenges) then we'll have a Lodge Lobby "Reveal" on Wednesday, March 23. Look for the details on the Daily Report and the Activities Blast. Thank you so much, Genaro! Finally, those wonderful Westbrooks have been at it again — hosting the "Golden Era Music Trivia and Dance" on Friday, March 25 from 6 to 8 pm in The Lodge. This is a fun event for folks who love to dance and folks who don't dance. The event features music from the 40s to the 60s. It's even more fun if those who attend dress up in era-specific outfits. No tickets are required; just show up ready to have a great time! Have a magnificent March, y'all (I bet you didn't know that I sometimes have a southern accent). Activities Director Corner
