40 | OHCC LIVING | MARCH 2022 |
As you read this newsletter with winter coming to a close and
warmer weather and longer days increasingly noticeable, Ocean Hills
Sailing Club has already scheduled sails for March and April with
more coming. As of this writing two are scheduled in March and two
are scheduled in April. More sails and social events will be announced
and all OHSC members are encouraged to check the club's web site
for scheduled sails and events and to sign up for the sails they are
interested in. OHSC will send email blasts to its members notifying
them in advance of sails and events being posted on the website for
signup. The eblasts ensure that everyone gets notified by email of
upcoming activities so that all have a chance to sign up.
An OHSC member, working with the club's Social Director,
scheduled the club's first non-sailing event on Feb. 28 – a docent
guided walking tour of the San Diego Maritime Museum visiting
the Star of India, HMS Surprise, the San Salvador, the Medea and
the Victorian era steam driven ferry boat, Berkeley and an extensive
array of maritime topics and artifacts, along with a 75-minute ride
aboard a Vietnam era Swift Boat visiting North Island Navy Base
and the Amphibious Warfare Base and other locations on the Bay.
Since this newsletter was written prior to the museum visit, further
comment and pictures of the actual event will follow in the April
volume of OHCC Living.
As of this writing, the club boasts having more than 150 members.
There were approximately 200 members at the close of 2021, so there
is room and time for additional OHCC residents to sign up. The
sailing season is just heating up for the Spring, Summer and Fall
months. You are encouraged to go to the OHSC website, complete the
membership form and deliver the form with your check to the front
desk at the OHCC Recreation Center.
May you be blessed with fair winds and following seas.
