18 | THE COLONY NEWS | MARCH 2022 | COMMITTEE NEWS By Gloria Brosky & Diane Schultz Each month the volunteer members of the ACC spend about 15 to 20 hours of their own time for The Colony. The members attend twice monthly meetings where we approve your applications and rewrite our guidelines to modernize and clarify sections of the Rules & Regulations. Also included in our work are Home Inspections and Final Inspections. We are happy to help our community, but we could use your help in two specific areas: 1. Final Inspections. When you apply for a home project, you receive a half sheet permit with an expiration date. With the delay in material delivery due to Covid, many projects are late starting and finishing. Not a problem! Just call the Office and make Elizabeth or Colleen aware of your situation. Your date will be extended. How does it help us? We do not spend our time or our gas to check on an incomplete project. 2. Paint Applications. When repainting your home, please choose a color from our current paint book. Some homeowners are opting to say, "use original color" or "use current color." They submit a faded chip of paint from their stucco. The office is spending time, or we are spending time at our meetings, trying to match your old, faded color to our new book. In the time since our homes were built, there have been approximately five paint books. I hope you can see the frustration we encounter when choices are not from the current book. When updating our paint book, many of the colors from the old book were selected; they are just renamed! Our homes were built 30 plus years ago and paint company formulations have changed. You do not get the true color you had in the past. It would make the whole application approval process easier if you could check out a color book, match it to your house, and use our current color options. Also, please state the "Color Collection," e.g., 5A, 5B, 5C and not the paint color number. Garage doors: Please remember that garage doors should be in your house color scheme or white. When replacing your garage door, please check that your door is the appropriate color. ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL ACCESS CONTROL & SAFETY The Access Control and Safety Committee is an advisory committee to The Colony Homeowners Association Board of Directors and the General Manager relating to all issues of community access and safety of residents and visitors. In the event of a major disaster, our committee will work hand-in- hand with the Emergency Preparedness Committee to assist in maintaining the integrity and safety of all Colony residents. Our function is to evaluate access control and general safety of The Colony and the effectiveness of Community Patrol. The Access Control Committee receives monthly reports and statistics from Community Patrol (Nordic Security). These reports include traffic enforcement, emergency responses and incident reports. By Bruce Hartwig, 696-5115 The monthly report from Community Patrol indicates the following activity and violations that Nordic Security responded to and/or assisted in keeping with the safety and welfare for the Association. Security Statistics: • 22,291 All Jackson gate entries: • 3 Property/residence checks • 8 Stop sign violations • 23 Medical, fire, police incidents • 27 Various parking violations • 4 Trash can citations • 27 Garage door open • 24 Miscellaneous incidents
