16 | SUN LAKES LIFESTYLES | APRIL 2022 | Sun Lakes Committee Reports Safety Advisory Securitas has been working more closely with District Delegates to help with area concerns such as trespassing and speeding. They also will be patrolling with flashing lights on from dusk to dawn in order to be a deterrent for trespassers or speeders. Two people have been arrested by Banning Police for violating past warrants. There has also been a high volume of traffic of Realtors looking at the eight empty houses and they must call ahead to get proper passes. Paving will begin shortly and we will be adding some requested speed humps. ~ Bill Bess, (951) 769-8022 Master Architectural If you are planning any exterior improvements to your home your first step is to submit an application for the desired improvement to the Master Architectural Committee. (Article VII Sec: 7.03). You can obtain the application forms from the Administration office or you can download them from your computer. Being computer challenged, it only took me 40 minutes to find out how to download the application forms. I'll try to pass that information on to you. Go to your search engine (Google, Safari or whatever you use to search online) and: Type: Sun Lakes Country Club Press: "Member Login" then "Sign In" Press: "Community Info" Press: "Planning and Compliance" Scroll down to "Applications and Info" Choose the application relating to the improvement you want to do. You can choose from Painting, Patio Covers, Landscaping, Vinyl Fencing, Misc. and Artificial Turf Checklist. Let's assume your home improvement project is to repaint your home. Each owner is required to paint the wood trim at their property every four years and the stucco every 16 years. (CC&Rs Article X, Sec 10.08 and Article XI Sec 7.22). All painting must be approved by the Master Architectural Committee (Article XI Sec 7.22 (a)). You must choose your Trim and Stucco colors from the "Approved List." Sun Lakes Country Club has 98 approved colors on that list. You can find the list by scrolling down to "Paint Samples." If you decide you want a color that is not on the "Approved Paint List," your application will probably be denied. By limiting the Trim and Stucco Paint to the 98 approved colors Sun Lakes Country Club is able to ensure that the colors will be in harmony with the surrounding structures and will not detract from the attractiveness of the development. (Article XII of the Rules and Regs.) Most of us do not want to live next to a purple or florescent green house and we don't want to have prospective buyers of our homes looking at purple or florescent green houses next door. For that reason, picking a color from the "Approved Paint List" is required for any painting application to be approved. The Master Architectural Committee will approve most colors for your front door. However, the color black or any color with a light reflective surface of less than 15 percent is for wrought iron surfaces only. (Article IV Sec. 7.22(g). Front door colors should also be in harmony with surrounding structures and not detract from the attractiveness of the development. Once you have picked your paint choices and filled out your application you need to have two neighbors sign your application. Those neighbors should be no further away than two houses from either side of your house. ~ Roy Nierman, Chairman, Master Architectural Committee Recreation Advisory The Recreation Advisory Committee has been very busy bringing new events to Sun Lakes. Little by little, it seems things are moving forward. We emerge from the restrictions of the past two years and begin to enjoy our amazing community, great neighbors, friends, and all our wonderful amenities. Groups and clubs offer something for everyone. We have the COVID-vaccine clinic coming right here so that no one has to hunt for a vaccine or a booster. There are many of us who are regular blood donors and Life Stream comes here to draw life-saving blood. We host a health fair that is very helpful to many of us, offering an opportunity to talk to health care providers. All in all, we live in a pretty wonderful place. Do you have something new and wonderful you would like to see in Sun Lakes? Call us, we would love to know. ~ Patricia Elevi, Chair, RAC, (951) 850-3900
