The Passover story describes the harrowing journey of the Jewish people through the desert to reach freedom from slavery. It's a fascinating story and it's our responsibility to re-tell so that we never forget. Jewish people were once important and powerful in Egypt but the Egyptians did not like this. An oppressive Pharoah became the ruler and forced the Jews into slavery. Pharoah ordered all baby boys born to Jewish slaves to be killed. To save her son, one mother hid her baby boy in a basket and placed him in the river where the Pharoah's daughter found him. She named that baby "Moses" which means "taken out of the water." The 10 plagues were sent down to force the Egyptians to free the Jews. The Jews quickly left and had to bake their dough in the sun as they traveled, and this was called matzoh. If this piqued your curiosity, please join us as we explain the symbolism surrounding this important holiday.
