24 | OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2022 | A Happy Passover and A Happy Easter to All! Spring is when life is alive in everything. As we move into the second quarter of the year, with the mask mandate lifted, but strongly recommended, we are beginning to see a surge of Clubhouse activity. This means that we are projecting out on our programming. With the Spring Carnival this month on the 16th, the Health and Safety Fair in the works for June, the band being chosen for our 4th of July Dinner Dance around the pool, the Concert on the Green band being secured, and scheduling the Tri-City Medical Center "Lunch and Lectures," it appears that we may be sailing out of these doldrums. What a relief this is! Scheduled in February and canceled due to COVID concerns, Attorney Paul Greenwood will be offering a seminar discussing "How to Reduce the Risk of Becoming the Next Victim of Elder Abuse," on Thurs., April 28 at 3 pm in Abravanel Hall. Light refreshments will be served. Mr. Greenwood is skilled in elder abuse felony criminal prosecution with over 22 years of experience, public speaking, legal writing, jury trials, assisting with drafting legislation and community advocacy. Paul has done several presentations here over the years, and he is always so informative. This past month we said good-bye to our daytime Front Desk Receptionist, Judy Dean. Judy decided it was time to head home and help in the care of her first grandchild. Judy was so good with people, greeting them by name, and showing a sincere interest to those who came to our Clubhouse Front Desk. We will certainly miss her, and we are hoping to find her replacement very soon. Until then, she will remain on call. Movies for viewing are offered three times a week in the Clubhouse in the Lamia Room. The movies are ordered from Netflix, as they become available. The queue can store a considerable number and the Recreation Department makes their requests, prioritizes them in order, and waits for them to be shipped to the Clubhouse. There is no committee that picks the titles, but suggestions are always appreciated. The comments vary, the 'likes' are appreciated, and each viewer has their own opinion about content. This same experience happens when one goes to the local movie theater, "some like it hot and some do not." As the venues open up to regular attendance, we are hoping more residents will come to enjoy this activity. A weekly movie schedule is posted in the racks on Thursday mornings. We are hoping for the families of OHCC come out to support our "Spring Carnival," Sat., April 16, 10 am to 2 pm. A photo booth will be available with "Hip Hop the Bunny." One year there were comments about the way the "Bunny" was jaunting to the age-related races and then, went tumbling to the ground. The kids all came running to assist the "Bunny" back on his/her feet. Was it that the "Bunny" was exhausted due to hiding all 3,000 eggs? Absolutely not, has anyone ever worn one of those costume mask headpieces for any length of time? They limit the air intake, have minimal visibility and are hotter than a furnace. Who will be the "Bunny" this year? Inquiring minds will never know. Let's hope for a beautiful day, lots of peeps, happy children, and endless hugs. See you for a hug with "Hip Hop" in the overflow!
