| OHCC LIVING | APRIL 2022 | 45 Founders Duplicate Bridge Friday Duplicate Bridge We play every Tuesday at 6 pm, in the Mykonos Room. We welcome bridge players of all level players to join us. This is the friendliest bridge group you will see. We will be offering free bridge lessons and analysis of interesting hands from prior games. If you need a partner, please contact Phyllis Skall by email pskall13@yahoo.com or text (858) 405-2684. The February winners are Feb. 1: Andy Boyer - Janice Boyer (69% Tie) Susie Anson – Kannan Dan (69% Tie) Feb. 8: Andy Boyer - Janice Boyer (59% N/S) Sy Singer - Arline Kennedy (55% N/S) Susie Anson – Kannan Dan (57% E/W) Sharon Gibson-Chuck Fasilis(57% E/W) Feb. 15: Andy Boyer - Janice Boyer (59%) Irma Maston - Heidi Kuhn (56%) Feb. 22: Andy Boyer - Janice Boyer (63% N/S) Milt Kahn - Mike Stern (53% N/S) Susie Anson – Kannan Dan (68% E/W) Casey Shoenhard - Carolyn Curtin (64% E/W) We offer a Duplicate Bridge game that combines the superior scoring of Duplicate Bridge, but also has the friendlier and non-aggressive attitude of home style Rubber Bridge. With Duplicate Bridge, your true opponents are the pairs that hold the same cards as you would, rather than your opponents at the table. We are not an ACBL game and for that, we not only offer an extremely reasonable game price of just $2, but also give cash awards to the winners. If you are interested, please call John Gates at (760) 295-5885, the president of this bridge club, to see if this type of game might meet your expectations. We are relatively small and have anywhere from five to eight tables. The games are at 1 pm on the second, fourth, and fifth Fridays of the month in the Hall. If you are planning on playing, you'll be responsible for finding a partner, and to let me know no later than early Thursday afternoon prior to the Friday game date. It is also assumed that you know the basics of Standard American Bridge, this is not a bridge training course but a tournament. You do not have to join this club to play your first game; however, if you decide to join, the annual dues are $6. Inspiration Hill As we walk the trail at Inspiration Hill, we are always impressed by the varied community inspirations as expressed on the Donor Bricks. The trail begins by honoring our pioneer OHCC Founders, and continues with those who so bravely served us. There are bricks honoring family members, beloved pets, and favorite universities. What is your inspiration? The HOA continues to take orders for your own personalized bricks. Fill out an order form at the HOA office, and include a check for $75. Your inspiration brick will help line the trail to the top of the hill! Sunset at Inspiration Hill. Photo by Al Fried
