Did you know that modern digital cameras can require updates?
As a Nikon user, I was surprised to learn that my model (D7200) had
a couple of firmware updates that had been issued over the years.
One of them addressed a problem with distortion at the edges of
photos that were shot RAW (which is what I use) or using a JPEG
FINE setting. I had assumed the distorted photos were simply the
result of my lack of ability as a photographer. It turns out there was a
defect in the camera, and they had put out a fix for it.
I did a Google search on 'Nikon D7200 firmware update' and found
it. Nikon had done several firmware updates on this model, and
they document what is fixed by each one. You can then look in your
camera setup menu settings for "Firmware Version" and confirm that
you do or do not have the most current version. If you don't have
the current version, you can download the update (there is a helpful
button provided on the website) being careful to remember where it
went on your computer, always a challenge. Remove the SD card from
the camera and connect it to your computer (many computers have
an SD card slot built-in). Copy the update to the very highest level
of the SD card, not in a folder. Put the card back into the camera and
turn it on. When you navigate to Firmware Version a new button will
appear for you to start the firmware update. It is important to have a
fully charged battery or the update won't run. All the way full!
After the update is complete, take the SD card out again and put it
in the computer. Remove the update from the SD card, and then put
it back in the camera. And you're good to go.

Look around for YouTube videos to help with performing any of
the updates.
Our photo shoot at Safari Park was a success. We did encounter
some problems getting lunch, as fewer than half the eateries were
open. Maybe they'll offer February free for seniors next year.
The Photo Club is open to all residents. Dues are $8/year.
