| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2022 | 11 Social Committee There is not too much happening with Social Committee events at this time, but we are planning some fun events for the future. May 24 is National Scavenger Hunt Day, so please look forward to another Community Scavenger Hunt on Sat., May 21. More info in May edition. On June 11 we will have our annual Tribute Concert; this year, Elvis will be here! July will find our community celebrating on Monday the Fourth of July. Plans are already being made but we still need community volunteers. September will bring a Luau that we are calling "Ohana Hawaiian Luau." Ohana means family in Hawaiian and we feel our community is a family. We are so looking forward to bringing social events back to our Four Seasons community. Facilities Committee Now that spring time has arrived and those rainy days have passed, you should see several projects taking shape. Last year, the Board approved to have building structures that included entrance security buildings into the community, The Lodge main building, the exercise building, BBQ patio structures, south patio covers located in the pool area, and parking lot light poles re-painted. It's been several years since the Facilities Committee recommended they receive preventive maintenance by re-painting all wood surfaces and our metal parking light poles, so a plan to begin work started some time ago. Specific paint requirements delayed getting the paint that was needed to start that project because of production problems that caused a paint shortage. You should begin to see our building structures looking like new again and this project could be completed by the time you read this article. The committee is pleased with the quality of work the contractor has performed and we know you will also notice a big difference in appearance. It takes several weeks or months to research projects making sure the proposal given by each contractor is what this committee specified and we can compare fairly each one. Having a team that is willing to research and investigate each subject matter is important to the committee so that all of us can discuss which is better. This committee has a wide range of volunteers that help make each project the best we can for all our residents. It's not easy, but we know each project deserves to be examined with integrity and within the reserves budgeted for that project. If you would like to be part of that team, please request a form for committee volunteer at the front desk; we need your help. If you are knowledgeable in any of the building trades such as plumbing, carpenter methods, painting, electrical, or cement and asphalt applications, or you have business experience and you understand contracts, we want you. Help us decide which project we tackle next. Library Committee "A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies… The [person] who never reads lives only one." ~ George R.R. Martin, author of A Game of Thrones Because reading is an incredible form of entertainment, we in Four Seasons are fortunate to have a relatively well-stocked library, limited only by space. The books on the shelves are thanks to the many residents that donate them. If we don't express our gratitude often enough, let this be our thanks. The one caveat necessary to repeat is the limitation of space, which is why we ask residents to donate only those books that have copyright dates that fall within the posted range: 2013-present for hardbacks and 2018-present for paperbacks. If you have books to donate that do not fall within our guidelines, consider donating them to Hemet Library's bookstore, the Goodwill, or any of the booksellers who sell used books. If you have not visited the Four Seasons library lately, please come on in. We have a good selection of fiction, nonfiction, biography, and autobiography. There is also an excellent selection of puzzles, including those with from 300 to 1,000 pieces. Thank you for your support and enjoy the incredible range of experiences books expose us to. "Live a thousand lives." ~ Dianne Vaez - Hourscht Thoughts from Blair: "With a library you are free, not confined by temporary political climates. It is the most democratic of institutions because no one – but no one at all – can tell you what to read and when and how. ~ Doris Lessing
