| Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2022 | 17 If a picture is worth 1,000 words, then this vintage graphic speaks volumes! After a cold and windy season of unpredictable weather we are all looking forward to those much anticipated beautiful new blooms. In addition, with much of the restraining guidelines from COVID mandates now lifted, we can once again feel excited to make plans and socialize more. Late Bloomers garden enthusiasts are doing just that: giddy over our new spring blooms, enjoying the company of each other within this exciting Club, and welcoming 13 new members this year; we are never without things to do. On March 14, we learned a lot from the folks at Armstrong Nursery in Temecula, specifically from Penny who gave us her undivided attention. February was particularly fun as we celebrated Valentine's Day at Los Vaqueros Cantina & Grill in our own style with a Chocolate Party. This was our most-attended event to date with 29 in attendance! Above is a picture that speaks for itself. On Mon., April 11 we will be back in the Arts & Craft Room for our regular meeting at 1 pm. We will be planning the final details of our first "overnight trip" to Roger's Gardens and Sherman Library & Gardens, both in Corona del Mar scheduled for later in April. If this is a trip you might be interested in please don't hesitate to reach out to get more information. Better yet, mark your calendar for April 11 and join us in the Arts & Crafts Room. We'd love to meet you. Late Bloomers meets the second Monday of every month at 1 pm in the Arts & Crafts Room. We share gardening tips, travel together, and learn from each other; these are the blooms that grow in our garden. All residents are welcome to attend meetings and trips. For more information, please contact Sharon Deuber at (760) 500-0077 or Sharon@ BlackDiamondInvestments.net. Late Bloomers Garden Club Needle Me Come visit NEEDLE ME! In the past several months, Needle Me has expanded its already large repertoire to include hand sewing, hand quilting, embroidery and Japanese Embroidery (SASHIKO)! Also trending in the Needle Arts is base needlework like knitting and embellishing with another needlework such as embroidery. The lovely knitted sweater pictured with this article uses a Sashiko pattern to add interest to the little kimono baby sweater. Our group is full of ideas and we're eager to share with you. You can learn a new craft, resume an old one, or maybe teach us something! Of course, when a group of ladies get together, there is bound to be lots of yakety- yak going on. During one of our recent meetings, some of the ladies were talking about how working with yarn and thread can be hard on your fingers and sometimes snag the yarn. Although it is different from working with beading and such, it can still make your fingers dry and cracked, especially in the cold, dry weather. Here are a few products that have been recommended to us: • Gloves in a Bottle – I have used this product. • Bag Balm Skin Moisturizer. • Mom's Stuff All-Purpose Pinon Salve. • Corn Huskers Lotion. We meet on the first and fourth Friday of each month in the Arts & Crafts Room at 1 pm. If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact Bobbie Davis at (951) 223-3836 or Merilyn Burnside at (951) 658-8310.
