20 20 | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2022 | | Four Seasons Hemet Herald | APRIL 2022 | Linda Hendrickson It's not easy to put one's life into a paragraph or two, but I'm going to give it a good try. When Stan and I moved into Four Seasons in 2004, The Lodge was yet to be built and the community was in its infancy. What was so wonderful was that folks were eager to make friends, share information about life in Hemet, and who to use and not use for help. Stan was on the Board the first year and loved getting our budding community up and going, while also focusing on home improvements we both wanted. Luckily Stan was a master with wood and could draw up plans and save us a lot of money, plus it was done right. Home Depot became our second home. Meanwhile, I discovered that there was a group interested in a Readers Theater, so I joined the club circa 2005- 2006, and, except for a three-year hiatus, I've been associated with what is now called Four Seasons Players. Oh, what fun we have had, and how we have grown. In our early years, we had no mics, no sound effects, no stage, no curtains, just stools where we spun around, backs to the audience, to depict that we were no longer on stage. I think it is fair to say, "we've come a long way baby." I had absolutely no background in theater, just someone who thought it would be fun to perform. Like most little girls, I wanted to be an actress, but the opportunity never presented itself. I grew with our little group and went on to perform in To Kill A Mockingbird, at the Ramona Hillside Players. From there I was given the opportunity to try out for a major role in an Agatha Christie play in Beaumont. It was the thrill of a lifetime, and won me a coveted Inland Empire award. After 70 years, my dream came true. A quick snapshot of me: Prior to moving here from San Clemente, I had an office in San Juan Capistrano where I practiced as a Marriage and Family Therapist. I loved my career, but decided to retire upon making the move here. What I treasure most is that I had raised three successful young men as a single mom, worked, went to school at night, and ran a household. They have gifted me 12 grandchildren and six greats. My dear Stan passed away two years ago, and I decided to move back to what feels like home. It has been a difficult transition, but I'm making it with a lot of help from my friends. Four Seasons Players As we await the perfect timing for announcing more details on upcoming performances such as our fabulous Fall Musical – we would like to take this opportunity to share a little Member-magic with you. That's right folks – our Club members are pretty magical and each one definitely is UNIQUE! We so enjoy getting to know one another and sharing and learning together. Our members' stories are too good to keep to ourselves, so this month seemed the perfect opportunity to feature one of our most veteran and beloved members – Linda Hendrickson. We hope you enjoy Linda's story as much as we do! Now you have a glimpse into the life of one of the, "Four Seasons Players." Come see us. Many thanks to Linda for sharing her story; we hope this will whet your appetite for more stories to come, and maybe even check out a future Club meeting. And remember – stay tuned for future performance updates! Club meetings are held the third Friday of each month at 1 pm in the Ballroom. Your interest and inquiries are always welcome.
