HOA NEWS | THE COLONY NEWS | APRIL 2022 | 11 Sports Courts Rules Article 3, Sports Court Rules, 3.1 General 3.1 General 3.1.1 All courts are for the exclusive use of residents and their guests. At all times, guests on the court must be accompanied by a resident. Residents have priority regarding use of the courts. 3.1.2 Proper attire shall be worn, including shirts. On all sports courts the tennis and paddle tennis courts, only tennis shoes that do not mark the courts are allowed. 3.1.3 Glassware, smoking, food, pets, chairs and lawn furniture are not allowed on the courts. The courts are to be used exclusively for playing tennis, pickleball and paddle tennis. 3.1.4 Open tournaments hosted by The Colony Racquet Club, The Colony Pickleball Club or The Colony Bocce Club have scheduling priority. Open tournaments shall not exceed one (1) per month, per club, and shall be for residents only. The hosting club shall give two weeks written notice to the other club Presidents of any upcoming tournaments not scheduled under rule 3.3.3 or 3.3.4. 3.3.1 Paddle Tennis/Pickleball Rules. 3.3.1 Paddle Tennis and Pickleball are open play without scheduling or reservations with the exception of rules 3.1.4, 3.3.3 and 3.3.4. 3.3.2 If players are waiting to play, those on the court shall relinquish their position after each game (pickleball) or set (paddle tennis). 3.3.3 Paddle Tennis Tournament Play is the first Friday of each month from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Only current Racquet Club members are eligible for tournament play. 3.3.4 Pickleball tournaments will be held on the first Saturday of each month from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Only current Pickleball Club members are eligible for tournament play. Recommended Rule Revisions At the Board of Directors Regular Session on Feb. 17, 2022, the Board recommended the following rule revisions for 30-Day member comment, to be voted on at the Regular Session in May 2022. The affected rules are printed below. All new information is in bold and underlined. In accordance with Civil Code #4360, Rule Making Procedures, these proposed rule revisions are presented for member review. Please provide, in writing, any comments or questions you may have regarding these revisions to the Board of Directors within 30 days of this receipt.
