14 | THE COLONY NEWS | APRIL 2022 | COMMITTEE NEWS WHAT DOES YOUR FRONT DOOR SAY ABOUT YOUR HOUSE AND ABOUT YOU, THE OWNER? Here are some interesting views that we found in an article written on this very subject. Black: Black will increase the value of your home the most. Black is classic, modern, sleek, and conveys a sense of order, control and authority. If black is not your choice, a bright color that contrasts or compliments your exterior color, from blues to the orange spectrum, can add interest and that desired pop of color. Blue: Blue is associated with the vast open expanses of sky and sea. A blue door symbolizes freedom, depth, sincerity and wisdom. There is a wide choice in our color book selection. White: White traditionally indicates peacefulness and cleanliness. A white front door conveys peace, organization, serenity and simplicity. Green: Green symbolizes life, renewal, peace, rest and security. It promotes a feeling of safety, health and community. Grey: While a darker charcoal grey has a similar vibe to black, a lighter grey is associated with intelligence, order, neutrality, maturity and balance. Brown: Brown represents stability, privacy, safety and reliability. Orange: Refreshing! Fun! Life of the party! Vibrant and exciting! It can say a lot about you. Our new oranges are surprisingly versatile. Check out Caribbean Coral and Copper Mountain, for instance. How can you narrow your search? Check out The Colony Color Book available in the HOA office and see which one you like best. Our guideline chart will tell you which color will compliment your house color the best. An Application to the ACC is required to change your door/shutter colors. As a friendly reminder: During our recent home inspections, we noticed a few homes (after the recent rain) that had leaking gutters. The water from the leaking gutters will darken/stain your stucco. Be sure to routinely check your gutters, including regularly cleaning out leaves and debris. Also, this will ensure the gutters are stable and secure. ARCHITECTURAL CONTROL By Gloria Brosky & Diane Schultz ACCESS CONTROL & SAFETY The Access Control and Safety Committee is an advisory committee to The Colony Homeowners Association Board of Directors and the General Manager relating to all issues of community access and safety of residents and visitors. In the event of a major disaster, our committee will work hand-in-hand with the Emergency Preparedness Committee to assist in maintaining the integrity and safety of all Colony residents. Our function is to evaluate access control and general safety of The Colony and the effectiveness of Community Patrol. The Access Control Committee receives monthly reports and statistics from Community Patrol (Nordic Security). These reports include traffic enforcement, emergency responses and incident reports. By Bruce Hartwig, 696-5115 The monthly report from Community Patrol indicates the following activity and violations that Nordic Security responded to and/or assisted in keeping with the safety and welfare for the Association: Security Statistics • 24,989 All Jackson gate entries • 3 Property/residence checks • 14 Stop sign violations • 11 Speeding violations • 17 Medical, fire and police incidents • 25 Various parking violations • 5 Trash can citations • 3 Garage doors open • 32 Miscellaneous incidents
