On Feb. 19, 18 Colony residents volunteered their time and effort to clean up the Golf Course finger #2, which is on the left side of the intersection of Avenida Florita and Colony Drive. It was a sunny, cool winter day, which helped us while we were raking, trimming, sweeping, picking up and bagging debris. The prior rains made pulling weeds and palm tree seedlings (aka pups) a lot easier! Our last cleanup day will be in April, and we would love to have a big turnout. We are moving the date from the third Saturday to the last one because of Easter and residents may have plans for that weekend. Therefore, our cleanup day is scheduled on April 30 starting at 7 am. Volunteers can start whenever it is convenient for them. The much-needed rain has brought out the weeds in full force. So, on April 30 we will be going back over the four fingers that we have previously cleaned up and be pulling weeds and palm tree pups. We will meet at finger #1 and work our way back on Avenida Florita to Colony Drive. Volunteers can work as much or as little as they have time and are able. Please join us as we spruce up these fingers for Spring. Hope to see you there! Sending a big THANK YOU to our February volunteers, which included Jeff Agajanian, Bea Brown, Gloria Brosky, Bob Clare, Rebecca and Laurent Carrer, Michael Frey, Larry Fimon, Wendy Haefeli, Alvaretta "Alvie" Kracik, Bonnie Langell, Yolanda Martinez, Cindy McCall, Jim McElhattan, Jane Payne, Jim and Toni Shaw and Tim Sublett. Many THANKS also go out to Tim and Sandy Sublett and Irene Wolf for donating trash bags. Everyone's contribution is greatly appreciated! VOLUNTEER CLEANUP DAYS By Jane Payne
