Sew Together Event
By Vivian Bellini, Resident
Have you ever thought that a sewing get-together would be fun?
Well, let me tell you about it and what you are missing!
The quilting Club just ended a three day "Sew Together Event" and
it was a huge success. In the past we have had two-day quilt retreats
here in our beautiful Ballroom, which have always been fun. This
time we decided to do things a little differently, planning more of a
"free for all" where we could go home to eat, send out for food, go to
a restaurant, or even do a potluck with a lot of snacks, coming and
going as we pleased. But we were mainly here to sew and create! The
camaraderie amongst us all is wonderful. We learn so much about
each other's lives and reminisce as we share all the great things we
are sewing or making. We learn many new techniques and tips at
these sessions and so many of us offer help when others might be
struggling.
Along with these retreats, our club also sponsors classes taught by
our members throughout the year. We welcome new members and
if you are in anyway creative or want to be, this just may be for you.
If you are not sure, just come to a Friendship Quilters meeting, held
every third Friday at 1 pm, run by JoAnne Krebs as a subgroup of the
SDV Quilt Club. Come join us to see what this is all about. The Quilt
Club makes Quilts of Valor for the Vets, for Childhelp, and items to
sell at our Annual Craft Faire. Come join us, we'd love to have you,
you may just get addicted, and its free!
