FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2022 45 Country Line Dancing Join us for a fun line-dancing trip to the Brandin' Iron in San Bernardino on May 12. This is a fun evening of country dancing and relaxing with friends. We arrive when they open at 5 pm, and usually leave for home between 8 and 8:30 pm, before the younger crowd arrives and takes over the dance floor. We submit a list of music to the DJ that we would like to dance to, and he plays most of them. We usually have an instructor teach us a new dance while we are there. Last trip we learned the line dance Wine, Beer, Whiskey. All in all, it is a fun evening. So, grab some friends who enjoy country music and carpool on over to join us. Dancing is so good for the mind and the body. It is truly a form of exercise for both. Learning new dances challenges the mind to remember the sequence of the steps. As you remember, you try to do those steps. Each time you repeat a dance you develop muscle memory for that dance, so that when the music starts, you almost automatically perform the steps. Now, it does take practice, and working hard at it, but eventually it becomes second nature. Our classes are every Tuesday afternoon from 2 to 4:30 pm. Check the calendar for times for each class. If you have thought about trying line dancing, watch these articles for the date of the next very beginner class. I teach one step at a time slowly. Hope to see you on the dance floor someday! ~ Martha Franck, marthafranck@icloud.com, (714) 345-8588 Heart & Soul Line Dance EXERCISE SUCKS, DO THIS INSTEAD! Dance - The motions of dancing work minute muscles that might be missed in straight weight training. It's great for lifting your heart rate and even better for your overall mood. As long as you're moving, you're working. Dancing is an exercise that burns calories, strengthens muscles, improves balance, increases flexibility, and gives the heart a good workout. Dance has also been proven to increase cognitive development. Dancing is an energizing, captivating experience. We live it. We feel it. We breathe it. We love it! Dancing is a constant reminder that we are leveling up our lives – that we should continue to make other good choices or we're practically wasting our time. Need more reasons to dance? 1. Dancing allows one to express oneself. 2. A sense of community is found within the dance. 3. Dancing provides physical/mental refreshment and relaxation. 4. Laughter and fun — dancing can provide a lot of entertainment. 5. Dancers find inspiration and motivation as they become lost in the dance. Dance is all around you - there are many things in the world that move; the planet moves; things in nature move; the human body moves; traffic moves; dance, too, shows patterns of movement. Observe people and things in your community and home. Watch how they move. Look for a pattern and a rhythm. Look for patterns of movement around you. Join us each Wednesday at 4 pm in The Lodge Ballroom. Wear comfortable shoes and bring water. No experience is necessary. All steps are broken down and repetitive, so you learn each dance. A good place to meet your friends and make new ones. We always have a good time. For more information, contact Priscilla Robles, 909.239.6464. See you on the dance floor! ~ Priscilla Robles
