54 FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2022
This month we are spotlighting one of Tails & Trails most committed
members. Connie Mendoza has always loved animals, a trait she got from
her mother. It comes as no surprise that Connie has been involved with
pets most of her life. She has been a resident with her family here at Four
Seasons since 2011. She is one of the original members of our community
Dog Owners Group.
Beginning in 2016, Connie became a volunteer for the Tails & Trails Group.
Other founding members include Martha Baumgarten, Lynne Kelly Cook,
Sharon Bond and me. Tails & Trails is comprised of dedicated volunteers
who recover and rescue pets that are lost or missing. It all began with the
first rescue of little black and white dog named "Sophie" who still lives here.
When pets are on the loose in our community, Connie is usually one of the
first people starting the search, getting all the essential information, food,
water, and setting up a trap if needed. These pet recoveries can take several
days or even weeks.
Tails & Trails has recovered 216 pets, to date. This includes dogs, cats
and even a couple of turtles. Connie also donates much of her time to other
events benefiting Tails & Trails. She works at the annual Fall and Spring
Crafts Fair with our group, volunteers for the Blessing of the Animals, held
each year, and participates in many other events that assist Tails & Trails. We
are extremely fortunate to have Connie and these wonderful volunteers in
our community.
