Here we are in May and I still haven't gone fishing. I bought my fishing license and all my gear is ready to go. What is wrong with this picture? I started thinking about my father the other day and how he would take me fishing. Here is one of the stories about a fishing trip with my dad. It was a hot day in June in the Coachella Valley. I was sixteen and was bugging my dad to take me fishing. I guess he got tired of me asking so he took me fishing to the Salton Sea. In 1968, the Salton Sea was the place to go fishing. Dad took me to the Salton Sea State Park. We went to go fish on the jetty that was great to catch all kinds of fish. The jetty was full of people fishing that day. We got alongside of all the fishermen and let our lines fly. My dad was never good at casting and crossed over a bunch of people with his line. He reeled in about 30 people with his one cast. While everyone was getting all the lines untangled I casted out my line and started catching fish. By the time all the lines were untangled, I caught a limit of fish. I loved to go fishing with my dad. We always caught a bunch of fish. The only problem was he made me clean all the fish we caught. Tight lines to all my fishing friends and remember to learn to cast before you go fishing. ~ Richard Carrasco FOUR SEASONS BREEZE | MAY 2022 65 Our weekly Thursday rides have been hampered recently due to rains and high wind. On one of our weekly Thursday rides this past month, we rode through Joshua Tree National Park. We were very lucky to catch one of those beautiful days in the park. Our route took us to Mecca on our way to the south entrance of the park. We exited at the north gate and then headed home at Yucca Valley. In total, this is a 200 mile loop and is probably one of our favorite Thursday routes. Another very enjoyable Thursday ride was heading down to Rainbow for breakfast. This route took us to Rainbow via Winchester Road. After breakfast we headed east through Temecula wine country on our way to Sage Road. This is about a 100 mile loop. The weather on this particular morning was cool, damp and a bit foggy. With the hot summer weather on its way, it was nice to be able to bundle up one last time. We also headed up to the mountains this past month. President Terry wanted to try out a particular cafe in Running Springs so this turned out to be our destination for breakfast. (By the way, the food was great!) We made our way to Running Springs by way of Hwy. 330. After breakfast, we headed east to Big Bear then dropped down off the mountain by way of Hwy. 38. Not a bad month of riding. We always remind ourselves how lucky we are to be in Beaumont for motorcycle riding because we have so many route choices for our Thursday rides. Depending on our mood and the weather, we can head out to the desert or up to the mountains or out to the coast. Regardless, our Thursday rides never disappoint. If you ride and think you might enjoy riding with the Four Seasons Motorcycle Club, please join us on one of our Thursday rides. We join up at The Lodge parking lot on Thursday mornings and we head out promptly at 9 am. Depending on the route, these rides are generally 100 to 200 miles in length with a stop for breakfast or lunch. If you have questions about the club, give us a call; we would love to talk with you! You can speak with Terry Humble, President, at (909) 706-2298, Jim Ayala, VP at (951) 392-6259, or Joe Bert, Secretary, at (909) 767-1484. For now, just know that we are a bunch of motorcycle enthusiasts who enjoy meeting up on a weekly basis for a fun and casual ride. By the way, we also go on multi-day rides two to three times per year. Our next multi-day ride is a five day ride to the Grand Canyon. We will be heading out on May 9 for what should be five days of glorious riding. We have nine riders signed up - six club members plus three guests. Can't wait! ~ Jim Ayala Motorcycle Club Fishing Club L-R, Jim Ayala, Tim Mixon, Mark Leary, Joe Bert, and Terry Humble after a fine breakfast in Running Springs Terry Humble and Mark Leary ready to ride.
