36 | OHCC LIVING | MAY 2022 | Golf on the Billiard Table - Written by Billiards Club Member Leo Beeloo The other day I told Charlie (Billiards Club President Charlie Payne), that I wanted to write about "Golf," the game played in the Billiard Room. He brought it to my attention that Don Farmer had written about the rules of the game in 2021. What I want to write about is how much fun the "Golf " game is. One thing I like about "Golf " is that this game is not always won by the most talented player. The least talented player can win, too. Everybody plays against everybody and still pursues the winning of the game. I like to see four players for a game and two balls per player. This combination allows the players to talk to each other in between shots. The game can be over in ten minutes or last as long as two hours. All the players cheer when someone makes a great shot. They still cheer if a player sinks his ball in the correct pocket with a terrible shot! And they chuckle when he hits an opponent's ball first and he has to go back one pocket. You have to smile when the player ahead of you "Snookers" you (a defensive tactic to keep you from being able to hit your ball) or knocks your ball away from the pocket you wanted to sink the ball into. After the game we thank each other for the fun time we had. Many times, two players enter the room, select a table, play a couple of games with just the two of them, then leave and they still only know each other. Getting into the room and asking two other players to play a game of Golf would be more fun, and you all will know two more persons. ~ Golf fanatic, Leo Beeloo Billiards
